La voix caractéristique de Donald l'a précédée d'environ deux ans.
C'est Clarence Nash qui lui prêta sa voix pendant plus de 50 ans!
Donald commença donc en jouant les fauteurs de troubles dans des dessins animés comme
"Orphan's Benefit"
et
"The Band Concert".
Les scénaristes aiment beaucoup ses différence avec Mickey qui était plus pausé.
Son optimisme face aux frustrations permanentes de la vie fit de lui un véritable symbole de l'homme actuel.
En 1941, Donald prête son nom pour une marque de pamplemousse!
Elle fut mise sur le marché juste après la seconde guerre mondiale, l'équipe marketing n'en espérait pas grand chose et pourtant, les ventes montèrent en flèches!
A partir de 1950 Donald prêta son nom à plus de 80 produits comme par exemple du jus de tomates, de compote de pomme, de sauce salade, de mayonnaise, de glace,...
Les représentants Disney insistèrent sur le fait que tout ces produits devaient contenir la mention:
"convient aux enfants en pleine croissance".
Aujourd'hui encore, on peut trouver le jus d'orrange Donald de Florida Citrus Growers.
